We have all gone through many experiences in our lives that have shaped us to be who we are. Unfortunately sometimes the experiences may have left us feeling like "damaged goods". No one should ever go through life feeling damaged. We are blessed to have been given the sacred teaching of yoga - the science of humanology that heals and uplifts. I have dedicated a significant part of my life to studying the Wisdom of the East and I know the benefits these teaching have brought me. My only wish is to share them with as many people as I can. This is my highest honor and privilege.
So often I see people with sadness in their eyes, like a dark cloud hangs over them. So deeply I wish that they would open to thinking and living a new way.
For so many the past is not the past, for they cling to their past and relive it everyday. It's like wearing a dirty, ripped-up coat that you bought 10 years ago; you know that it needs to be discarded but everyday you go on putting it on. You may try to mend it by stitching up a few tears, or by putting on patch here and there, but no matter how you try to disguise it it is still an old coat. Not only that, but occasionally you may get new rips and new stains on it, and each day it gets more and more weathered. The other option is to remove the coat and never put it on again.
I cannot take the coat off you. At best I can assist you, encourage you, but the decision to take the coat off must ultimately come from the depths of your own soul: the realization that no old coat is need to protect you. Beneath the coat is your inner light, your inner beauty waiting to be revealed.
