Through dedication, discipline, and devotion, the Universe becomes your playground.
One meditation that I've been sharing with my students recently is the Inner Conflict Resolver Reflex meditation. I've used it myself and my students have used it with great success. I'll describe it here:
Posture
~ Sit in Lotus position, or any comfortable position
~ place your hands on your chest, not overlapping, with the fingers together and the thumbs pointing up.
~ let the shoulders be relaxed
Eye position
~ 1/10th open
Breath (pranayam)
~ breathe in deeply for 5 seconds.
~ exhale completely for 5 seconds
~ after the 5 second exhalation, pull in the abdomen and hold the breath out for 15 full seconds.
~ repeat for 11, 31, or 62 minutes.
End
~ inhale deeply and shake the arms above the head for 15 to 30 seconds.
~ exhale, lower the arms and relax for a few moments.
This exercise does what it says: it helps to clear the blockages that create inner conflict. Confusion, fear, anger, etc cause the energy of the body to be scattered. In these states our breathing also becomes disturbed. By controlling the breath we begin to control emotions, as breath and emotion are inextricably linked. This meditation uses the word 'reflex' in it because the breath pattern has the effect of creating a physical and psychological re-patterning. The energy system of the body is not accustomed to the suspension of the breath for 15 seconds, so it begins to recalculate and reconfigure the flow of prana (energy) to respond to what it perceives as a survival threat. The energy is thus forced to redistribute itself to where it needs to go. With consistent practice and attention to the breath timing much inner growth with occur.
As Yogi Bhajan once said: "The effect is certain, gradual, and simple. Be honest with the breath timing and the meditation will be honest with you."

This meditation is very
This meditation is very useful and great. I have used it now a couple times after reading this post a little while back and it really has calmed me and made me feel more peaceful. You really just let your problems somewhat melt away with your breath.
I tried this meditation
I tried this meditation immediately after reading this post and it made me feel really good. I immediately calmed and could feel my energy redistributing. It was definitely a different feeling controlling my breath in this way. I am more accustomed to simply listening, feeling and being aware of my breath at least in the beginning of my meditation then moving to a mantra like "om mani padme hum" but I like this one to shake things up a bit.
